Broker P&L files (uploaded by you)
When you upload a Zerodha, Upstox, Groww, or Dhan P&L report, it is read and parsed by JavaScript running entirely in your browser.
The raw file bytes never leave your device. Our API receives only the parsed numerical output — profit/loss figures and aggregate charge amounts.
No stock names, ISIN codes, trade dates, or account numbers are transmitted.
Income profile (salary, TDS, deductions)
Data you enter on the Income and Expenses tabs is stored only in your browser's localStorage.
It is transmitted to our Render-hosted API solely to compute your tax estimate when you click Calculate, and is not stored by the API after the response is returned.
AIS / TIS PDFs
These PDFs are parsed entirely in your browser using PDF.js. No PDF bytes are transmitted to our servers.
The extracted values (dividend totals, TDS amounts) follow the same path as income profile data above.
Usage analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the product is used. GA4 collects: page paths, approximate country, browser type, device type,
and custom events we define (e.g. which broker file was uploaded, whether Calculate was clicked). IP addresses are anonymised.
No personally identifiable financial information is sent to GA4.
We use one category of cookies: Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics. These help us understand aggregate usage patterns. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or your browser's privacy settings.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. The only third-party service that receives data from your use of TaxSavingLab is Google Analytics (anonymised usage data only). Our API is hosted on Render — no data is persisted after each API response.
We do not retain any personal or financial data on our servers. Your income profile and preferences remain in your browser's localStorage until you clear them using the "Clear data" button in the app or your browser's settings. GA4 analytics data is retained per Google's standard retention policy (14 months by default), in anonymised aggregate form.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to know, correct, and request erasure of personal data. Since we do not retain personal or financial data on our servers, most rights are exercisable locally by clearing your browser's localStorage. TaxSavingLab is designed for adults with trading or investment income. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Material changes will be noted with a new effective date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
